Why is Rosy Soil made without peat moss?
Peat moss has been a common ingredient in commercial potting mixes since the 1960s. However, it's obtained by extracting peat bogs, which are vital ecosystems that store carbon. At Rosy, there's a better way — blends are developed with alternatives that are effective and sustainable.
What's the "chunky" hype about?
Aroids naturally grow on tree trunks and loose debris, not in dense, soggy dirt. This mix mimics their native habitat — chunky, airy, and alive with microbes.
What is biochar?
Biochar is nature's soil supercharger — a form of carbon created by heating organic material (like wood or plant matter) in a low-oxygen environment. It improves soil structure, helps retain water and nutrients, and creates a thriving home for beneficial microbes. It's also incredibly stable, meaning it stays in the soil for hundreds (even thousands!) of years — all while capturing and storing carbon that would otherwise enter the atmosphere.
Can I add Rosy to my current potting soil?
Yes! You can add Rosy to your current houseplant potting soil — whether it's an inorganic or organic potting soil mix, cactus or orchid mix, or otherwise. Doing so will help refresh your old soil and revive its benefits for plant care. Alternatively, you could directly replace your current houseplant soil mix with Rosy.
How many pots will a bag fill?
The 4 Quart bag fills approximately 2 to 3 medium 6" pots. Unlike traditional indoor potting mixes, you won't need to replace the soil every year due to compaction.

What does Pre-Order mean?

Pre-Order status means a plant isn't quite ready to ship yet — but you can secure yours now before it sells out. There are typically two reasons you'll see it:

  • We're building the import order. We haven't placed the import yet and are gauging interest before we pull the trigger. Pre-ordering helps us hit the minimum and often unlocks better pricing and rarer selections for everyone.
  • The plants are here, but they're settling in. Freshly imported plants go through an acclimation period — we let them rest, rehydrate, and stabilize before they ship. Rushing that process isn't something we're willing to do.

Either way, your order is locked in at today's price, and you'll be among the first notified when your plant is ready to go. Always check the individual product description for estimated timelines specific to that listing.
