Monstera obliqua Care Guide.

Monstera obliqua is one of the rarest aroids in cultivation. Unlike its popular cousin M. deliciosa, obliqua has extremely thin, paper-like leaves that are more hole than leaf in mature specimens. It demands very high humidity and consistent moisture and is best suited to experienced growers.
Light
Bright indirect light — similar to other monsteras. Avoid any direct sun, which will scorch the delicate, thin leaves almost immediately. A shaded east-facing window or filtered light from a grow light works well.
Watering
Unlike most aroids, obliqua prefers to stay evenly moist — do not allow the soil to dry out significantly. However, it still must not sit in standing water. Water as soon as the top surface begins to dry. The thin leaves have very little moisture reserve and will show stress quickly.
Humidity
This is the most critical factor. Aim for 75–85% humidity at minimum. Most growers keep obliqua in a closed or semi-closed terrarium or cabinet setup. At normal household humidity, the leaves will crisp and struggle significantly.
Soil & Potting
Use a very airy, fast-draining aroid mix with a high proportion of bark and perlite. Despite needing consistent moisture, the roots must never sit in dense, waterlogged media. A small pot relative to the plant helps avoid overwatering.
Fertilizing
Feed lightly — once a month during the growing season with a diluted balanced fertilizer. Over-fertilizing in an enclosed humid setup can cause salt buildup. Flush the soil every few months.
Temperature
Keep between 65–85°F. Obliqua does not tolerate cold. Never drop below 60°F and avoid drafts entirely.
Toxicity
Contains calcium oxalate crystals. Toxic to pets and humans if ingested.
